DANCING DOs AND DON'Ts
 | DO Support Your own weight and maintain your own balance. This will make you light on your feet, easy to lead and a pleasure to dance with. | |
| DON'T pump your arms in time with the music. This action indicates that you are unconsciously attempting to accentuate the beat and keep time with your arms. |
 |
 | DON'T sway the upper structure of your body to the point where it interferes with your partner's balance, as well as your own. | |
| GIRLS DON'T clutch your partner's suit with your left hand, or place it in a position in front of his right shoulder and push. This is a sure road to unpopularity. |
 |
 | BOYS DON'T bore a hole in the girl's back by digging the fingers of your right hand into her body. | |
| BOYS DON'T push your left hand too far forward, or you will drove the girl's right hand and arm so far back, it will feel to her like a wrestling hold. |
 |
 | DON'T waddle like a duck with your feet wide apart. | |
| BOYS DON'T play "Statue of Liberty" with your left arm. A left arm held too high is uncomfortable for your partner, and unsightly on the dance floor. |
 |
 | DON'T dance with your your hips protruding way out in back and only your shoulders and upper chest in contact with your partner, or vice versa. | |
| DO move from the hips down, keeping your upper body fairly still and controlled. |
 |
 | BOYS DON'T walk forward all evening. Your partner will quickly tire if she must back up all evening. | |
